Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis participates in the meeting of Latvia’s Honorary Consuls

On July 8, in Rīga, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis addressed the Honorary Consuls of Latvia emphasizing their role in developing the economic cooperation between Latvia and foreign countries.
V.Dombrovskis said that the economic stabilization and future growth is based on the support for export entrepreneurship and redirection of the EU structural funds’ funding, export guarantees and reduction of administrative barriers. The Prime Minister urged to use an opportunity to invest in Latvia because currently Latvia experiences the economic recovery, as well as low production costs and real estate prices.
In his address, the Prime Minister stressed that Latvia follows a balanced foreign policy making through active participation in the EU and NATO, as well as by maintaining constructive relationship with Russia, China and other countries.
The Prime Minister noted that Latvia actively participates in the discussion and decision-making on the current EU events – the strategy of the Baltic Sea states, climate change, energy, sanctions against Iran and other issues. V. Dombrovskis emphasized Latvia’s role in promotion of international security through participation in the international operation in Afghanistan and development of the NATO’s strategic concept. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of regional cooperation through Latvia’s presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers in 2010.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Honorary Consuls of Latvia for their contribution and selfless work in defending Latvia’s interests and promoting them abroad.
